Animal Sciences Graduate Student Association

Welcome!

Message of the President

The Animal Science Graduate Student Association (ASGSA) is an organization representing the students in the M.S. and Ph.D. programs and others interested in the world of Animal Science.  The ASGSA provides an opportunity to bring students together across and within discipline with professional and social events. Interaction of the students within the various disciplines of Animal Science goes beyond the academic setting and aids in building valuable relationships for the future.

The objective of this organization is to promote communication and professional relationships for those interested in Animal Sciences, hence being an active member in the ASGSA has many potential benefits. Through many ASGSA events, you will have the opportunity to meet industry and academic representatives in addition to getting to know your peers and faculty more closely. In addition, members of ASGSA have a voice in the university and participation ensures your voice is heard.

The ASGSA holds several events throughout the year which encourage and promotes research and thought in the field of Animal Science. Each year an outstanding researcher-professor in Animal Science is selected to speak on their research. In addition to their presentation, graduate students are given the opportunity to meet during a round table discussion to ascertain ways which may enhance our careers. In addition to the annual speaker, the ASGSA hosts several social events. Every fall the ASGSA holds a chili cook-off with prizes awarded to the top entries and our annual spring picnic brings us together for some good food and friendly games of volleyball and cornhole. Be sure to check the website for pictures of our past events.

Please consider this my personal invitation to participate in all ASGSA activities. We look forward to seeing you at our meetings and events. Meetings are held the first week of every month in Columbus and Wooster via video link or conference phone. Special events are posted around the Animal Science buildings.  If you have any question or comments please do not hesitate to contact anyone involved in ASGSA here at The Ohio State University.
